The Knights of Columbus recently restored the Stations of the Cross area, immediately west of the Church, to its original splendor. On January 8th, the Knights had a Dedication Ceremony, where Father Jojo Tejada, Parochial Vicar and Council Chaplain, led a group of knights and parishioners and blessed the area where the Stations of the Cross is located. The Stations were originally constructed by Brother Knight Austin Porambo, as an eagle scout project in 2005. The area had become overrun by brush.
After three days of work, seventeen trailer loads of brush and debris were removed from the area and twelve bales of pine straw were laid out along the path. Crosses were touched up and aluminum plaques were paced at each cross, describing each station. Wooden stanchions were installed at each station to exhibit laminated student drawings about each station by Mrs. Porambo’s 3rd grade students. An additional cement bench was installed along the path. A wooden archway with signage was constructed at the entrance to the Stations of the Cross to clearly identify the area.
It is hoped that parishioners will utilize this area and experience the peace and serenity of praying the Stations of the Cross in such a beautiful natural setting. Below are pictures taken from the dedication and blessing.
